Some feel they're making fun of their god I guess. In their religion it's wrong to paint Mohammed. That's why.

Here in Spain we have TV programs which do comedy of God, politicians, football players... and nothing happens, are programs just for laughing and enjoy a good time.

See the problem with these sharia ruled countries is that most of them don't follow the true sharia of muhammad. Muslims believe muhammad was infallible and nobody is like him, but these middle easterns aren't. Also, if you refer to the war makers and killers, you are most likely referring to the terrorists. Terrorists have no religion and Islam is strictly against acts of terror.
Historically, wars were started against muhammad from the nonbelievers, etc, but he would always tell them that "we should have peace and we shouldn't fight." He even made a peace treaty with Jewish people, but the nonbelievers bribed them to go against the treaty and declare war. He was always supporting the monotheistic religions and respected everybody.
Adding on to NiklasNikke and MFriendZ, like I said before, Muslims love him so much and the belief that he was a peaceful and just human being. Making fun of him in cartoons or any drawings, actually, is disrespectful and insulting. Going to far is when people start killing each other because of it, because they are too cultural and that is never recommended. Take Jesus for example. I don't think a religious Christian would enjoy watching a show that slanders Jesus, the one they believe is Christ, would you? Muslims don't believe Muhammad is the son of God, but that he is the closest human being to God, a messenger and holy prophet of God, and like all prophets, infallible, or sinless.
Anyways, sorry for the long post lol, I just wanted to clear things up. I am not telling you what to believe or not, I am simply presenting the facts and you can use your own judgement to come to a resolution. I realize the situation in the middle east is very unstable and anyone could get killed there, but that is political, for the most part. May God help those suffering in the middle east and northern Africa, too.

Btw, if you haven't noticed, I am muslim, and I personally was brought up being told that pictures of the holy prophet are unacceptable, yet alone something making fun of him. I never watched the cartoons, nor looked into the facts, but what I've stated above is general. I don't know what southpark specifically shows about muhammad, but I think you get the point.
