NEED HELP ON FIREFOX.

Hey people.
I need help on Firefox 2.0.
I downloaded the latest version couple weeks back and I didn't like it so I downloaded the old version I was using again.
After downloading, I had this new toolbar which wasn't there when I had this version. It has two tabs- Getting Started and Latest Headlines. I do not like it there. Is there anyone who knows how to remove this? It's really annoying. But besides that, I have another problem :-?. When I try to download something from the web, it does not ask me where to save the file/folder but it automatically downloads it on my desktop. Unlike before, I could use the 'save file as' option where it asks me where to save the file. Can someone please tell me how I can change these settings?

this may sound extreme, use system restore. Only if you didn't make any new installations etc apart from that firefox.

Try to uninstall Firefox because you can always use IE, and then download v3.0 and install it and if needed don't install it in c:\program files\firefox - rather, choose a different directory for the files to be installed and stored on your computer.

Then try it again and see if it works.

Thanks for all the advice guys but I wouldn't want to uninstall it as all the history and stuff will be deleted as well. I already tried system restore soon after I uninstalled the version 3.0 but there was no date suitable for the reverse. I think I'll adapt to this silly toolbar but I don't know how to change the destination of the files I want to download on my computer.

ARRHHHH....:pint:
