Using Real Names - A Good Idea?

Can anyone answer these Questions:

Why do websites want to know the real name?

What's the point of giving away the own name?

Why do you get Gold Member status if you hand over your real name?

That are things that are kinda bugging me, so I actually never tell my real name to websites.

I have no idea why but I guess it's just to know more about you and be sure there are no multiple acocunts created etc or something like that ;-)

Advertisers are looking for real people who have interest to try or even check their products, that's why it's important for them to have real names.

Most of them always provide an option to not be spammed etc, just need to read their privacy policy etc, or use a secondary email which is good only for offers etc :-)

I dont think its a good was for somebody to know your real name, look you up in the phone book and see where you live

Well, my names Victor and there could be millions of Victor's around the world. Also, you don't really need to give out your country of residence so to top it all off, you're quite safe ;-)

but u will earn more or less money depending the offers u complete, u know
